"What do I look like, I fucking shopping cart?!" -- Matt (insert unknown last name)
Forget the Roses, how about potatoes?
Well, there's a lot of reasons. I mean, roses only last like a couple weeks and that's if you leave them in water and they really only exist to be pretty so that's like saying "my love for you is transitory and based solely on your appearance". But a potato! Potatos last for fucking ever, man! In fact, not only will they not rot, they actually grow shit even if you just leave them in the sack. That part alone makes it a good symbol, but there's more! There are so many ways to enjoy a potato! You can even make a battery with it! That's like saying "I have many ways in which I show my love for you" and potatos may be ugly, but they're still awesome so that's like saying "it doesn't matter at all what you look like, I'll still love you"

"You're a big piece of awesome... like here's the awesome pie and this is you." -- Tanya from doorbell quad on Gord 1
Just returned from the three hour sociology night class and man, it's been the first sociology class that's dragged for a bit cause we were talking about stats in sociology and the prof went really slowly for those who didn't like numbers. I mean, I don't like numbers but I can handle looking at them on a graph.
Karen Au turns 20 today! Happy birthday my friend and thanks for keeping it real all these years. You're the best friend I have who I've only seen 5 or less times. Bwahaha

What the hell? How could I have done all the readings/assignments and still feel like I've learned nothing. I feel cheated! The consolation of course is that I'm enrolled in two music courses that were only supposed to be taken originally by Bachelor of Music students, which I am not. So I'm a class full of people who essentially have 10 times more musical background than I do. Example:
Prof: "What can you distinguish in that listening example about the sound?" B.Mus student: "It's composed based on a pentatonic scale" Prof: "Good, that's true. What else?" Me: "What in the hell is a pentatonic scale and how are you able to distinguish it amongst all the other exotic instruments that are playing all at once?!"
See what I mean? And this is a prereq for my music medial so it's not like I can choose not to take it. This is known as biting off more than you can chew. On top of that, I have my B.Ed courses I'm taking concurrently with my normal courses. So for the first time in a long while, I feel threatened by my studies. This'll be fun.

I got my first real six-string Bought it at the five-and-dime Played it till my fingers bled It was the summer of '69
Me and some guys from school Had a band and we tried real hard Jimmy quit and Jody got married I shoulda known we'd never get far
Oh when I look back now That summer seemed to last forever And if I had the choice Ya, I'd always wanna be there Those were the best days of my life
Ain't no use in complainin' When you got a job to do Spent my evenin's down at the drive-in And that's when I met you
Standin' on your mama's porch You told me that you'd wait forever Oh and when you held my hand I knew that it was now or never Those were the best days of my life
Back in the summer of '69
Man we were killin' time We were young and restless We needed to unwind I guess nothin' can last forever - forever, no
And now the times are changin' Look at everything that's come and gone Sometimes when I play that old six-string I think about ya wonder what went wrong
Standin' on your mama's porch You told me it would last forever Oh the way you held my hand I knew that it was now or never Those were the best days of my life

"... Tim, I accidentally snapped your G-string" -- Jon Wong
It's convinient how the one string that always breaks on a guitar is the G-string, aptly named due to it's pitch when in regular tuning. It's not even the thinnest string; it just happens to be the string that gets tuned up and down the most and the tension is thus always fluctuating. As far as my guitar goes, it's the string that changes the most when I tune the guitar to play Iris.
Someone's screaming on my floor at this moment so I'm going to investigate. Take care of yourselves and each other.
